Description / Framed Token Set

The Subway fare was a nickel for the first 44 years, and a dime for the next 5 years. In 1953, the fare was set to rise to 15¢, but engineers couldn't design a turnstile that would accept 2 different coins. Thus, the Token was born.

This set features 5 authentic New York transit tokens circulated from 1953-2003. Starting with the dime-size 50’s era token and ending with the “5 Boroughs” token in mid-90’s

Tokens firmly affixed to French buff paper cardstock, enclosed in a quality walnut frame with Artist Choice glass front.

Measures 7-1/4" x 3-1/2" x 1” Stand on desk or shelf. Officially licensed by the MTA, each set comes boxed with a Certificate of Authenticity.
